Ralls Collection Marks 12th Anniversary with Special Show
Exhibition Will Feature Highlights from the Gallery's Collection

Washington, D.C. (September 27, 2003)-In celebration of its 12th anniversary The Ralls Collection will hold an exhibition of significant work displayed at the gallery during its 12 years in business. The show will include work from some of the gallery's most popular and prominent artist, including John Alexander, Tom Baril, William Dunlap, Caio Fonseca, Michael Kenna, Robert Rauschenberg, and Richard Serra. The exhibition will be open from October 2nd through November 1st.

Mr. Rauschenberg's inclusion is particularly notable, not only for his place in the pantheon of Important Artists, but as the subject of the gallery's 10th anniversary show and as a mentor and inspiration to gallery owner Marsha Ralls. Says Ralls "Working in Rauschenberg's studio as a recent graduate was a formative experience for me. He instilled a love and appreciation for art, and hard work, that still drives me today. I was so pleased he could be with us in 2001 for the opening of the gallery's 10th anniversary show that featured his own work from the previous 10 years."

Upcoming shows at the gallery include new work from painter John Alexander and photographer Sally Gall, on display from November 6th through December 6th, and selections from photographer Michael Kenna's latest book Japan, opening December 10th through the end of February.

The Ralls Collection was established in 1988 as a private art dealership, and expanded in 1991 with the opening of a gallery bearing the same name. The gallery specializes in contemporary painting, photography, prints, and sculpture. Other artists represented include painters Dennis Ashbaugh, Wanda Baucus, Mark Dassoulas, Stephen Hannock, and Jamie Young, and photographers Jeff Brouws, O. Winston Link, Annie Leibovitz, Edward Mapplethorpe, and Eliot Porter. Located at 1516 31st, NW in Georgetown, The Ralls Collection is open Thursday through Saturday, from 11am to 4pm and by appointment.
